Experience the captivating sounds of the bandura at Bandura on Bloor, featuring the talented Mariia Smolinska and the dynamic duo DIVKA. This concert takes place on Friday, May 30, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. at the Royal York Road United Church in Toronto.
Mariia Smolinska, a Victoria-based Ukrainian bandurist, has garnered international acclaim for her virtuosity and captivating performances. Having begun playing the bandura at the age of 7, she has honed her skills through rigorous training and numerous competitions and festivals. Smolinska is passionate about showcasing the versatility of the bandura as a solo instrument.
DIVKA, a Toronto-based folk duo, features the unique combination of bandura and viola. Comprised of Alina Kuzma and Zoë Ëoz, DIVKA performs primarily Eastern European folk songs celebrating strong women. Their music blends traditional elements with a contemporary edge, creating a truly unique sonic experience.
All net proceeds from this concert will be donated to the Canada-Ukraine Foundation, supporting humanitarian efforts in Ukraine. Don't miss this opportunity to experience the magic of the bandura while supporting a worthy cause.
