About the Event
Celebrate the arrival of spring and the spirit of renewal at Basant Bahaar, a captivating concert presented by Mehfil-e-Kalakaar. This event takes place on Saturday, May 3, 2025, from 5:45 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. at Array Music in Toronto. Gates open at 5:30 p.m.
Basant, associated with spring and a raag in Indian classical music, signifies change, rejuvenation, and new beginnings. Bahaar evokes beauty, hope, and well-being. This concert is dedicated to celebrating the ever-evolving beauty and spirit within ourselves and each other.
The performance will feature talented artists including:
- Purawai Vyas, an emerging dance artist trained in Bharatanatyam, who creates contemporary works exploring Indian mythology.
- Swapnil Roy Chowdhury, an accomplished Indian classical vocalist from Kolkata, specializing in Khayal gayaki.
- Rigved Deshpande, a skilled tabla player with over 18 years of experience, who has accompanied renowned artists internationally.
This event is generously funded by The Canada Arts Presentation Fund, Canadian Heritage, and the Government of Canada. Ticket prices are not currently listed, but can be found on the Mehfil-e-Kalakaar website.
