About the Event

Riverdale Hub presents "Bizaanigaabawi (He or She Stands Still)," an exhibition by acclaimed Anishinaabe photographer Nadya Kwandibens, running from Thursday, May 1 to Saturday, May 31, 2025. Kwandibens, a Canon Ambassador and the current Photo Laureate for the City of Toronto, explores contemporary Indigenous identity and decolonial resistance through her powerful imagery.

Join us for a special reception on Saturday, May 3, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., with an artist talk at 3:00 p.m. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet the artist, learn about her work, and engage in a deeper understanding of the themes explored in the exhibition.

"Bizaanigaabawi" is presented in partnership with various organizations and is part of Kwandibens' broader artistic practice, which includes projects like Concrete Indians, Red Works Outtakes, emergence, and The Red Chair Sessions. These works challenge stereotypes, reclaim Indigenous spaces and languages, and celebrate Indigenous intelligence.

The exhibition is free to attend, but registration is required for the reception. Reserve your spot online through the Riverdale Hub website. Don't miss this opportunity to experience the powerful and thought-provoking work of Nadya Kwandibens.
