Charpentier's David and Jonathan

Opera Atelier presents the Canadian debut of Marc Antoine Charpentier's "David and Jonathan," a breathtaking opera/ballet originally staged in the Royal Chapel at Versailles. Running from April 9 to April 13, 2025, at Koerner Hall in Toronto, this production is directed by Opera Atelier's Co-Artistic Directors Marshall Pynkoski and Jeannette Lajeunesse Zingg. With award-winning costumes by the legendary Christian Lacroix, set designs by Antoine and Roland Fontaine, and an ensemble of extraordinary artists, the production has been celebrated internationally.

"David and Jonathan" tells the biblical story of David, the giant killer, blending stunning visuals, searing music, and intricate choreography into a masterpiece of baroque opera.
